Licence - Door Supervisor: Outline

Anyone involved in work of a door supervision nature, by way of business or employment supplied either under contract or employed in-house, will require a licence from the Security Industry Authority, (SIA). This includes employees, employers, managers, supervisors and directors of security companies.

 

The SIA is responsible for raising standards of training and professionalism across the industry and reassuring the public by preventing unsuitable people from working in the private security industry.

 

If you use unlicensed door staff or work as a licensable door supervisor without an SIA licence, the penalties for committing this offence can be;
  1. Summary conviction at a Magistrates Court - the maximum penalty is 6 months imprisonment and/or a fine of up to £5000, or
  2. Trial on indictment at the Crown Court, whereby an unlimited fine and/or 5 Years imprisonment could be imposed.
