Street cleaning programme: Outline
Litter in a public place is unsightly, dangerous to animals, and an offence.
The average fine for littering is around £95, but can be up to £2,500.
The council provide and maintain bins to try and prevent the depositing of litter in public places and arrange for the bins to be emptied on a regular basis.
The street cleansing programme provides a frequent cleansing of streets, gullies, car parks, public conveniences and other public areas to remove litter, build up of leaves or any other conditions which could pose a risk to public health and safety
