CCDC BEREAVEMENT SERVICES
COVID 19 ARRANGEMENTS
During these difficult and upsetting circumstances our Bereavement Services team are working closely with Funerals Directors to provide families with a dignified funeral service within our cemeteries.
At the present time our cemeteries will remain open to the public but only if social distancing is adhered to. This may change in the coming weeks. Please also see the government links below.
Funerals are taking place in our cemeteries under the guidance of your Funeral Director who will conduct a grave side service with no more than 10 mourners present at the grave side with social distancing measures ( 2 metre distance) being adhered to at all times. We also advise that mourners do not shake hands at the end of the service. We are aware that this is a widely accepted practice at funerals however, by avoiding unnecessary contact we can, collectively, do our best to reduce the spread of the virus. We respectively ask families to leave the cemetery after the service. Funeral Directors or family members are welcome to stream the service.
We appreciate that during this difficult time you will have to make important decisions about the funeral you would like and if you would like any information or if you have any concerns please contact Bereavement Services on 01543 462621.
If you are experiencing financial difficulty with the cost of a funeral, you can access the funeral expenses payment scheme which is operated through the department of work and pensions. Please refer to https://www.gov.uk/funeral-payments for advice.
