Local shoppers are being encouraged to go along to the relaunch event of Cannock Indoor Market Hall this Friday 19 May between 9am and 5pm.
Over the last few months, a number of improvements have been made to the market hall as well as increasing trading hours; these include making the old Hallmark shop a new entrance, four new market stalls will be constructed inside and the main market office has moved.
To mark the completion of the works, a relaunch event is being organised by Cannock Chase Council and Sketts which also forms part of the national campaign – ‘Love Your Local Market’.
Love Your Local Market is a celebration of the UK markets industry and takes place from 17-31 May. It provides a national spotlight on markets across the country and aims to build support for markets by enhancing their status within the local community and offering startups in a low cost, low risk environment.
During the relaunch event there will be a range of activities taking place inside and outside the market hall including live music from Natasha Marie, The Owl Experience, information from Age UK, Mac Research, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and the Alzheimer’s Society as well as free goody bags for shoppers. Cannock Chase Radio will also be broadcasting live from Cannock Market. Outside there will be a face painter and a special appearance from Minnie Mouse.
Representatives from Cannock Chase Council, Staffordshire County Council and Real Deal will be at the relaunch to sign up to the Real Deal charter.
The Real Deal campaign aims to promote a fair and safe trading environment, including ensuring it is free from counterfeit goods. Signing up to the Real Deal charter demonstrates our commitment to tackling counterfeit goods sales and keeping visitors safe.
Michael Tichford, Head of Economic Development said “I hope that residents of Cannock Chase are able to attend the relaunch event for Cannock Indoor Market, we have lots of entertainment planned and goody bags will be handed out to shoppers. Ten residents will receive a £5 voucher have been placed into the goody bags at random to spend inside the market.”
There are two new stalls now trading from Cannock Indoor Market and these include Approved Wills and Cannock Deli.
Cannock Market Hall offers a wide variety of products and services and is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, 9am – 5pm.
