Licensing Policy 2010 Revision

This Statement of Licensing Policy is intended to meet Cannock Chase District
Council’s obligations as the Licensing Authority under Section 5 of the Licensing Act 2003, it has been reviewed in accordance with guidance issued by the Secretary of State in June 2007, under Section 182 of the Licensing Act 2003, following consultation.

Dangerous Wild Animals

Anyone who keeps a dangerous wild animal must be licensed by the Council to ensure that the premises are suitable as regards welfare of the animal and safety of the public.

Riding Establishments

Anyone charging for riding on horses, ponies or donkeys must be licensed by the Council under the Riding Establishments Acts 1964 and 1970.

Anyone breeding dogs for sale where five or more litters are born in any period of 12 months must obtain a licence for the breeding premises from the Council under the Breeding and Sale of Dogs (Welfare) Act 1999.

House to House Collection

Collections made house to house require a House to House Permit either from the Local Authority or the Police unless a Home Office Exemption Certificate is obtained.

The type of permission depends upon the locality of collection. For nationwide collection contact the Home Office, for countywide collection contact Staffordshire Police and for collection within Cannock Chase District contact the Licensing Unit with sufficient notice.
