Memory Box
Shrewsbury artist Carl Jaycock was commissioned to work alongside 6 well known elderly members of our local community to create a piece that recorded their memories of living and working in the district. This resulted in a series of textile pieces each supported by a CD recording of their individual stories. These were then shared with other senior citizens at residential homes and Cannock Chase Hospital toured by local vocalist Gillian Garner. Designed as a reminiscence project to benefit mental health it enabled many isolated elderly people to reconnect with the place they and feel involved in something active in their community.
