Bevan Lee Estate Re-development
Update on the Bevan Lee Estate
All work on the transformation of some properties on the Bevan Lee Estate in Cannock has now been completed and the final act in the £15 million project was a celebration to mark the occasion.
The event on 9th October 2009 was the formal opening of the Bevan Lee Community Centre.
The scheme saw the demolition of over 100 Council houses that were unsuitable for modernisation and their replacement with 128 properties, managed by leading housing provider Sanctuary Group. The homes were built in partnership with the Council and contractors J & S Seddon Limited and most agree these modern properties rebuild the sense of community on the estate.
Council Chairman Cllr John Beddows, Howard Cartwright from Sanctuary and Stuart Seddons, Chairman of the contractors were at the unveiling of the community centre's new sign, which was designed by local resident Linda Cook.
