Decent Homes Standard

We are working to the Government's Decent Homes Standard through our 4 planned maintenance programmes:

• external envelope
• electrical upgrading
• replacement kitchens
• central heating upgrade

Details for each programme are set out below with information about how the work is undertaken and what you need to do before, during and after the works start.

External Envelope Works

The Council's partner for External Envelope Works, Lovell Partnership, undertake comprehensive maintenance to the exterior of each dwelling including the chimney and roof repairs, repointing, rendering repairs where necessary.  For further information contact Rick Pepper on 01543 462621 or email RickPepper@cannockchasedc.gov.uk

Electrical Upgrading

The Council's partner for Electrical Upgrading, the Dodd Group carry out work to the properties to ensure they meet current regulations.  Work includes the installation of wired in smoke detectors and provision of additional sockets to ensure at least the minimum number provided.  For further information contact Alan Dennison on 01543 462621 or email AlanDennison@cannockchasedc.gov.uk

Kitchen Replacements

The Council's partner for kitchen replacements, Lovell Partnership undertake an annual programme to replace kitchens that do not meet the Decent Homes Standard.  Kitchen replacement includes new units and tiling to a layout drawn up by a kitchen designer with choices on number of units, colours of units, worktops and tiles.   For further information contact Amanda Laight on 01543 462621 or email AmandaLaight@cannockchasedc.gov.uk

Central Heating Upgrades

The Council's partner for Central Heating Upgrades, P H Jones Limited are undertaking an ongoing programme of upgrades and replacements.  Where possible, tenants are offered the choice of a traditional system i.e. modern, fully pumped system with a high efficiency room sealed boiler and a high recovery cylinder or a high efficiency combination boiler, together with thermostatic controls throughout the property and a choice from a selected range of focal point gas fires or an electric fire/suite.  For further information contact Steve Sherratt on 01543 462621 or email steveSherratt@cannockchasedc.gov.uk
