A charitable trust will be managing Cannock Chase Council's Culture and Leisure facilities and services from April 2012; delivering extra investment and reducing the cost to local taxpayers. Cabinet Members approved the selection of Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust (WLCT) - a specialist provider with a proven track record - at their meeting on 17th November 2011.
The selection follows an open and competitive procurement process which began in January 2011. WLCT were the clear winner in offering best value, quality of service, service innovation and investment and were also seen as best suited to working in partnership with the Council's vision and aims.
Over £2 million will be invested in leisure services in the District over the next decade, while also reducing the cost of leisure services to local taxpayers. The contract will deliver substantial savings for the Council each year over the 10-year contract.
The contract to manage the Council's culture and leisure services is for an initial period of 10 years, with the option to extend by two five-year periods."
