Building work needing approval
In general most building work requires Building Regulation approval and includes,
- the Erection of a new building or re-erection of an existing building,
- Extension or alteration of a building Change of use of building,
- Internal alterations and fit out of a non-residential building, and
- Installation, alteration or extension of a controlled service or fitting to a building

Exempt Buildings

Site Inspections
Whilst it is important that building standards are verified at the design stage it is vital that these standards are achieved on site. In order to ensure that your building work meets the standards, that you obviously expect, it is essential that work is inspected by your Local Authority Building Control Surveyor.

Completion Certificates
We issue Completion Certificates to certify that the Council is satisfied that the work complies with the relevant requirements of the Building Regulations, in so far as we have been able to ascertain. For this reason, it is very important that we are called in to inspect various stages of work as it progresses. You will be advised of these stages on a blue card that is sent out with the notification of approval (with or without conditions) of your application.
