Friends of Cannock Chase

Formed in 1947 in order to protect the Chase from development by the Military, the association has continued to oversee and where necessary, object, should any infringement or damage occur within the Area of Outstanding natural beauty.

Through liaison with District, County Council, Forest Enterprise, Quarries and other main group users we hope to have an influence in the way the Chase is used and maintained.

As an offshoot to our activities we also have guided walks which besides showing its beauty also gives insights into its rich history.

Our ultimate aim is protecting and restoring this vital remnant of a once vast area from encroachment of bracken, Birch and pine trees in order to support its rare flora and fauna.
