An Award Winning Museum
Museum Accreditation
The Museum Registration scheme was then replaced by Museum Accreditation. The Museum of Cannock Chase was recognised by the Museums, Libraries and Archives (MLA) as meeting the highest quality standards by being awarded Museum Accreditation in September 2009.
The MLA's Museum Accreditation Scheme sets nationally agreed standards for all museums in the UK. To achieve Accreditation, the museum had to demonstrate that it achieves clearly defined standards relating to governance and management, services for users, visitor facilities and collections management.
Additionally, the Museum of Cannock Chase received a special Commendation for listening and acting on the views of users. The Accreditation Panel's report said: "Consultation is well embedded within the culture of the museum, not just a token add-on to satisfy funders. The museum has robust procedures for analysing responses and for acting upon them. This ethos has benefited the development of new galleries and the day-to-day running of the museum."
