There are over 1,000 Hectares of parks, open spaces, sports grounds, conservation areas and play areas in Cannock Chase District, not to mention the 1,214 Hectares Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty known as Cannock Chase.

Green Flag Awards
The Council currently has four sites that have achieved the Green Flag Awards standards. Green Flag is the quality award for Parks and Open Spaces and the Council is committed to retaining, and if possible, increasing the number of sites.
Green Flag Sites are judged on the following 8 Key Criteria:-

- Healthy, Safe and Secure
- Clean and Well Maintained
- Sustainability
- Conservation and Heritage
- Community Involvement
- Marketing
- Management

Parks Opening Times 2012
All parks are open 364 days a year from 8.00 am daily. Closing hours change from 9:00 pm in the summer reducing to 4:00 pm in the winter,dependent on the actual time of year. Please see below for all parks opening hours. The Council has parks within each of the main settlement areas that cater for the needs of all local residents and visitors.

Cannock, Hednesford, Elmore and Ravenhill Parks all open and close at the same times throughout the year.
Ravenhill Park Paddling Pool opens on Monday 28 May and closes
on Sunday 02 September 2012
