Planning Policy

Proposals Map

The adopted proposals map is the 1997 Local Plan Proposals Map.  It is part of the statutory development plan for the District and forms part of the principal basis for which development is promoted and controlled. It illustrates currently approved sites which are suitable for uses including housing and employment land while also indicating areas of protection such as the greenbelt.

The Council is working on new Development Plan Documents (DPDs) which will inform the new Development Plan for the District.  A new proposals map will illustrate site-specific policies within adopted DPDs and outline protected areas such as the Greenbelt and Cannock Chase Area of Outstanding National Beauty.

The draft Proposals Map will replace the 1997 Local Plan map as the Core Strategy and accompanying planning documents are adopted.   The information includes policies relevant to the Core Strategy, while data for other planning documents will be added as they are adopted.

Please note that the data shown on the draft Proposals Map will be subject to change as the policies are developed through public consultation and there should not be a presumption that the items shown on the map will definitely be developed at this stage.
