Real Nappy Information
16th - 22nd May is Real Nappy Week!
We will have representatives based in Cannock Shopping Centre on Monday 16th and Wednesday 18th May 2011 to show you more about Real Nappies and answer any questions you may have
Real Nappy Campaign - There is an alternative to disposables.
Each year 3 billion nappies* are disposed of and in the UK , 90% of these are landfilled. Imagine how much space that is taking up in the landfill sites, not to mention the fact that your baby will go through, on average, between 4000 and 5000* nappies before it stops needing them!
Real nappies have come such a long way from the old days of plain terry towelling nappies, they now come in all sorts of different shapes and sizes as well as many funky colours.
Cost
You can kit your baby out with all the nappies they need from the high street for under £80 (the cheapest Real Nappy option), add £1 per week to wash them and you'll still save £500 compared to the market leading disposable nappy.
The initial outlay for the real nappies may seem expensive, but compared to the ongoing cost of disposable nappies, this pales into insignificance. Plus the environmental benefits are so much better compared to landfilling disposable nappies.
Many companies offer discount schemes to help new parents and Staffordshire County Council is even offering £30 cashback when you buy a starter kit, even more ways to be impressed with real nappies!
Many companies are also offering a payment spreading service where you can pay for your nappies in instalments to suit yourself, so for example if you saved a small amount during the 9 months you are pregnant you would have enough money to buy all the disposable nappies your baby will need until they're potty trained!
Other companies offer a trial kit for a small fee and there are online sites for the purchase of second hand nappies, saving even more money.
