Published on Friday 8th June 2012
The food hygiene rating website for Staffordshire is re-launching as part of Food Safety Week, which is taking place from 11 to 17 June 2012.
The website, http://www.rateymyplace.org.uk/, which has been helping people for the last six years to find whether food businesses right across Staffordshire have good hygiene standards, re-launched with a brand new and improved site during Food Safety Week, which takes place this year from 11 to 17 June.
Cannock Chase Council, in partnership with other Council's across Staffordshire has been involved in the redesign of the website to tie it in with the Food Standards Agency's national Food Hygiene Rating Scheme.
Instead of stars for good practice, the Council's food safety inspectors are now awarding businesses a rating of between 0 and 5, with 5 being very good.
The ratings across England, Wales and Northern Ireland are available online at www.food.gov.uk/ratings. They can also be found at http://www.ratemyplace.org.uk/, which has the detailed hygiene reports on food premises across Cannock Chase District and Staffordshire as well.
Councillor George Adamson, Leader of the Council said:
"The website is a useful resource for food businesses, as it gives customers information about where eateries are, what types of food they serve, as well as a map and directions to help hungry diners to find them.
"Rate My Place is also available on mobile phones that have access to the internet. Anyone wishing to quickly search for a restaurant or café, while out and about, can simply visit http://www.ratemyplace.org.uk/"
Rate My Place is a partnership between local authorities across Staffordshire who publish details of food safety inspections across the county.
The scheme is led by Lichfield District Council, who is supported by Stafford Borough Council, South Staffordshire Council, East Staffordshire Borough Council, Cannock Chase Council, Tamworth Borough Council, Newcastle under Lyme District Council, Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, High Peak Council and Staffordshire County Council.
