Flower beds are flying the flag!

An airman who is set to leave for Afghanistan soon joined elderly residents for their Diamond Jubilee celebrations – and to see some flower beds that had been specially created for the occassion.
Senior Aircrafts Man Glenn Lumsden from Tactical Supply Wing (TSW) at MoD Stafford visited Caxton Court in Cannock, where residents have been helping to transform their flowerbeds with the help of Cannock Chase Council’s housing team and personnel from RAF Stafford into Union flags to mark the Diamond Jubilee.
Elderly residents from sheltered housing schemes across the District have developed a strong relationship with the airmen and airwomen from MoD Stafford. Last year, all five of Cannock Chase Council’s sheltered housing schemes collected boxes of toiletries which were shipped to Afghanistan for all those serving over the Christmas period.
Councillor Frank Allen, Cannock Chase Council Housing Leader, said: “I was delighted to see the flower beds at Caxton Court transformed into a work of art for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. It was lovely to see the elderly residents enjoying themselves and supporting the work of the armed forces. They do such a fantastic job and we should all be extremely proud of them.”
