Cannock Chase Council

Afternoon of free family fun at the museum

Published on Tuesday 24th July 2012

Families across the District are invited to a special afternoon of FREE fun activities at the Museum of Cannock Chase on Sunday 29th July.

The museum's annual Summer Family Fun Day takes place from noon until 4pm. With 2012 being a special year for national celebrations and sporting events this summer's event will have a 'Red, White and Blue' theme. Children (and grown-ups) are welcome to come along in fancy dress!

There will be plenty of free fun for all the family to enjoy including a bouncy castle, children's facepainting in conjunction with Thomas Cook, Punch and Judy shows at 12.15pm, 2pm and 3pm, drop-in art and craft workshops, willow weaving and children's fancy dress competition. Local organisations and community groups, such as the RSPB and Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, will be bringing stalls and demonstrations on the day with plenty of ideas for things to do with the kids over the summer.

Entrance and activities are all free of charge.

There's plenty more fun family-friendly exhibitions and displays at the museum, as well as a coffee shop and picnic area - the perfect place to spend some time with the children during the school holidays.  Children love the interactive toys and games gallery and grown-ups enjoy the nostalgia of the old toys on display. Bring back memories of happy family holidays with the temporary exhibition 'Morning Campers! The British Holiday Camp' and have a go at some popular holiday games of the past.

The Museum of Cannock Chase - on Valley Road, Hednesford - is open daily from 11am to 5pm with last admission at 4.30pm. The Museum Family Day on 29th July runs from 12noon to 4pm. Admission is free. For more information, call the Museum on 01543 877666 or see www.cannockchasedc.gov.uk/museum
