Opening Night In for London 2012

Published on Tuesday 24th July 2012

People in Cannock Chase have been urged to celebrate the start of London 2012 by throwing an Opening Night In party.

The opening ceremony for London 2012 gets under way on Friday 27th July, and organisers want people to switch on the Opening Ceremony and crowd round the TV. Get in on the action and make an evening of it by throwing an Opening Night In party.

Organisers have plenty of ideas! There are lots more details at http://www.london2012.com/

Ring bells
Start the celebrations early by hosting an All The Bells event and join thousands of others ringing bells at 8.12am as part of the London 2012 Festival.

Decorate and celebrate
Attempt 100 metres of paper chains or theme your party food. Blow up balloons and make them look like Olympic Rings.

Get cooking
There are recipes to feed a family or a sports team on the 2012 site. Try Pendleton pizza for a tasty snack or cheese-straw oars for perfect finger food.

Wear your glad rags
Whether you want to be Wenlock for a night or one of the colours of the Olympic Rings, there's a great list of fancy dress ideas on the 2012 website.

Games for the Games
A party's not complete without games. Get into teams and play bingo, or race Wenlock down your living room!

Cannock Chase Council has made sure that the spirit of the Olympics is alive and kicking in Cannock Chase. The Chase Community Games programme has seen lots of events taking place across the District over the last few months, with a grand Party In The Park finale in Cannock Park on Sunday 19th August.

We'll be celebrating the Paralympic Games too with an official Paralympic Flame Celebration at Chase Leisure Centre on Saturday 25th August.
