Cannock Chase Council

Kick-off for full-size artificial pitch

Published on Friday 14th September 2012

Cannock Chase’s first state-of-the-art full-size artificial grass pitch will be available for the community to use from Sunday 16th September.

The pitch is at Cardinal Griffin RC High School in Cardinal Way, Cannock, and was a joint project between the school and Cannock Chase Council, funded by the Football Foundation. The Council and Cardinal Griffin worked in partnership with the Staffordshire FA to secure a £319,000 grant from the Football Foundation, the country's largest sports charity.

The pitch will be used by local schools in the day and will be available for community use in the evenings and at weekends. It will be available for community use between 6pm and 10pm Monday to Friday and from 9am to 9pm at weekends and can be booked by calling the school on 01543 502215.

Cllr Christine Mitchell, Cannock Chase Council Culture and Sport Leader, said: "The Council is committed to delivering top-class sporting facilities to encourage people in Cannock Chase to live active and healthy lifestyles. We worked closely with Cardinal Griffin and the Staffordshire FA to make sure we received the funding for this exciting project and it's fantastic that the whole community can now start to use it."
