Help and advice before submitting an application
We will give you free advice on whether an application is required and, if so, the information and fee you should submit. If your proposal is for a development which would have important implications for infrastructure provision (e.g. transport, drainage, open spaces, schools) and/or would be the subject of other statutory regulations, we will seek to co-ordinate all the relevant advice with the bodies involved. Further help and information can be obtained from the Planning Portal which includes access to Interactive House and the New Planning Regulations, including details on whether or not an application on a domestic property is required.
Application forms include guidance notes explaining how to complete them and our application forms pages includes a checklist for some applications which you may find useful. Prior to submitting an application advice can be given as to whether your application can be supported or not. This advice will be based on the local and national planning policies which are relevant to the case however, we can never commit the Council to making a particular decision.
If you wish to meet a Planning Officer, either at the office or on site, an appointment can be offered within five working days.
If you write to us for advice we aim to reply in ten working days unless we need to obtain information from outside the Planning Department in order to give a full response.
In all cases please contact Building Control by emailing buildingcontrol@cannockchasedc.gov.uk or telephoning 01785 619340, to find out if Building Regulations are required.
