Coronavirus update
Bin Collections: Our Waste and Recycling crews are working on reduced staffing levels for the first 2 weeks in January. Collections (Green, Blue and Brown bins) are being carried out as normal, although may be slightly later than usual. We are asking residents to put their bins out on normal collection days and leave them out until emptied. Please refer to this page for updates.
Due to the current situation
We ask residents to not approach refuse crews, or if necessary to please respect social distancing.
We ask residents to clean handles and lids of their waste containers before and after collections to prevent the spread of Covid19
Please remember to not place tissues or kitchen roll in your blue bin. If we notice these items in the blue bin we will not empty it.
Thank you.
Recycling - Please Do Not
PLEASE remember - Do Not put Tissues, gloves, cleaning wipes, paper towels, cloth, Nappies, DIY materials or black bagged waste in the blue recycling bin. These items will not be recycled and will contaminate other materials. Your bin will not be emptied if such items are found.
Please also refer to our guidance on what can be recycled by following this link.
Correct procedures for disposal of specific waste
There are specific guidelines on the disposal of possible Covid19/Coronavirus contaminated waste: National Guidance can be found HERE
Generally: “Personal waste (such as used tissues) and disposable cleaning cloths should be stored securely within disposable rubbish bags. These bags should be placed into another bag, tied securely and kept separate from other waste. This should be put aside for at least 72 hours before being put in your usual external (Green Bin)household waste bin.”
Please DO NOT put used tissues in the blue recycling bin (they should never be put in the recycling bin anyway as they will not be recycled and will contaminate other materials).
Other waste & recycling services
Bulky waste collections have been resumed.
All 14 household waste and recycling centres (HWRCs), run by Staffordshire County Council, are now open, with temporary rules and traffic management in place, so that Staffordshire residents can visit them for essential use only.
For Further information please visit https://www.staffordshire.gov.uk/Waste-and-recycling/recyclingcentres/Home.aspx
Time - Put your bins out by 7:00am on your collection day, with the handle facing the road.
Place - Move bins to the kerbside. For terraced houses, move bins to the nearest end of the passage or alley. Leave bin with handles facing towards the road.
Remember - Make sure all rubbish or recycling is placed inside the bin and make sure the lid is closed.
