Cannock Chase Visitor Centre
A Day Out in Cannock Chase
The Chase has a rich industrial history and long-standing connection with the Military. The Country Park lies within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and contains Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs) which are of international importance.
The rare heathland and ancient woodlands contain valuable wildlife which the Countryside Service seeks to conserve.
The Visitor Centre provides information on all of this and the staff help visitors enjoy their visit. The new Cafe has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere catering for individuals, groups or parties (booking required).
There is also a small shop selling maps, books and souvenirs, also toilets with provision for people with disabilities. Electric scooters are available free of charge for people with disabilities (booking recommended).
The County Ranger Service organise guided walks and other events and provide an education service in the adjacent John O'Leary Education Centre for school visits.
