Views sought on district’s future
Published: Tuesday 8th April 2008
Residents of Cannock Chase are being invited to submit their views on future priorities for a sustainable district.
The Sustainable Community Strategy is currently being developed by Cannock Chase Council on behalf of the Chase Community Partnership.
A wide range of data has been taken into account but residents' input is important in shaping the content, style and format of the document.
Proposals set out in the draft strategy reflect current statistics about the district and predictions for change over the coming years.
They also take into account what people have already said through various consultations.
The strategy will aim to provide:
- A long term plan to improve the environmental, social and economic well being of the district as a whole
- A vision based on evidence as to the needs of the area and the wishes of communities
- A framework for public, private and voluntary sectors to work together to deal with the complex challenges facing the district
- An opportunity for members of the public to be involved in decisions affecting them
All councils have a legal duty to work with partner organisations to produce a Sustainable Community Strategy.
People have until Friday May 16 to submit their views and opinions.
Partnership Development Unit Manager Nick Hackney said: "We would like to know if we have identified the right themes and priorities.
"In addition, we would like to know people's views on how we might work towards achieving the objectives in the strategy and what different sections of the community may be able to do.
"We could not produce this document without the input of residents as it is vital that it reflects their needs and wishes."
