The Urban Forestry Officer is responsible for developing and implementing the Council’s Urban Forestry Strategy, and provides a strategic policy context to the planting and management of trees within the District. The duties also include assisting with Tree Preservation Orders, giving arboricultural advice in connection with Council trees, planning proposals and managing contracts/projects, which have an arboricultural component.

The successful applicant will need to be qualified to Degree/HND level in Arboriculture or an appropriate tree related discipline with proven post qualification experience of delivering a range of arboricultural services, preferably in a Local Government setting. In addition the successful applicant will have excellent verbal and written communication skills sufficient to write formal written reports and negotiate on tree management problems with experience of the use of Geographical Information Systems (GIS)/Tree Management software.

Professional membership of an appropriate professional organisation such as the Arboricultural Association is essential.
