Decent Homes Standard
We are working to the Government's Decent Homes Standard through our 4 planned maintenance programmes:
external envelope including the window refurbishment programme
electrical upgrading
replacement kitchens & bathrooms
central heating upgrade
Details for each programme are set out below. For further information on whether your property will be affected by any of these programmes call Housing Property Services on 01543 462621 or email HPS@cannockchasedc.gov.uk.
We value your feedback as it helps us to improve the service we provide to you. Upon completion of any works you will be provided with one of the relevant satisfaction surveys.
External Envelope Works
External Envelope works
The Council has a programme for External Envelope Works to update the exterior elements of its properties, this includes comprehensive maintenance to the exterior of each dwelling and upgrades to the following areas:
- Roofs
- Walls (repointing and rendering)
- External Doors
- Resurfacing Driveways
- Insulation
We will visit your property on a 5 year cycle to carry out a condition survey. The survey will be used to identify any work that may be required to the property such as a roofing repair or new external door. However should you feel an external part of your home is in poor condition you should report this to housing repairs by calling 01543 462621 or emailing housingrepairs@cannockchasedc.gov.uk and ask for an inspection to be carried out.
For further information about the programmed works contact Housing Property Services on 01543 462621or email HPS@cannockchasedc.gov.uk.
Electrical Upgrading
The Council's partner for Electrical Upgrading, the Dodd Group carry out work to the properties to ensure they meet current regulations. For further information contact Housing Property Services on 01543 462621 or email HPS@cannockchasedc.gov.uk.
Kitchen & Bathroom Replacements
The Council has a kitchen and bathroom modernisation programme to update the facilities within its properties. It is anticipated a kitchen or bathroom will last 20 years, and so works are targeted on those properties with the oldest kitchens and bathrooms.
Kitchen upgrades include new kitchen units, worktops, wall tiles, electrical sockets and flooring. There is a choice of colours for kitchen units, worktops and flooring.
Bathroom upgrades include new sanitary ware, wall tiles and flooring. If the bath is replaced there is a choice of having a new bath or a shower tray with an electric shower (but only if there is enough space). There is a choice of colours for wall tiles and flooring.
Decorating will only be carried out where the person qualifies for the Council's Vulnerable Tenant's Decorating Programme.
