Why is the Plan being reviewed?
The government is making major changes to the way in which local plans are produced, including the need for councils to review their plans every five years to see which policies may need updating. As a consequence of the changes to the national planning system however, some parts of Local Plan Part 1 will soon be out of date. Local Plan Part 1 was adopted in 2014 and, as a result of the new regulations we will need to decide very soon which parts of the plan will need to be updated. We are starting the production of a new Local Plan which will utilise the work to be carried out to date on Local Plan Parts 1 and 2 and incorporate any areas which need reviewing and updating. We should also point out that until it is replaced, the adopted Local Plan Part 1 will still continue to set planning policy for the District.
The Cannock Chase Local Plan (Part 1) 2014 is the statutory development plan for Cannock Chase Council and forms the principal basis for which development is promoted and controlled. The Cannock and Rugeley Town Centre Area Action Plans provide further policy context for the largest town centres in the District. More information is available under the drop down menus below:
The Hednesford Neighbourhood Plan also forms part fo the development plan and was adopted on 28th November 2018. Please read the Neighbourhood Planning page for more information.
