Cannock Chase Council’s public consultation was held to hear opinions and views of the future of Council services in the District from residents, businesses, community groups and visitors.
It followed the announcement that the Council faces a funding deficit that peaks at £2.15m in 2018/19 and the launch of the Council’s Financial Recovery Plan.
The financial recovery plan provided the background information and potential savings options that Council Officers identified. The savings options totalled £2.1m per annum and were in excess of the £1.6m minimum saving requirement. This enabled a meaningful consultation on the options to achieve a saving of £1.6m.
The six week consultation ran from 23rd September to 6th November and asked for opinions on options to increase income, reduce services and explore further shared services with other local authorities.
The survey was available online, in person or on paper.
Consultation forms were also available at the following locations:
- Reception at the Civic Centre, Beecroft Road, Cannock.
- Cannock Leisure Centre
- Rugeley Leisure Centre
- Museum of Cannock Chase
- Cannock Library
- Rugeley Library
- Hednesford Library
- Heath Hayes Library
- Norton Canes Library
- Brereton Library
- Rugeley Area Office
A number of public meetings were held throughout the consultation period between 18th and 25th October where local people could also complete the survey.
The Financial Recovery Plan consultation has now closed. Thank you very much for taking part in the Financial Recovery Plan Consultation, your views are very much appreciated. Officers from the Policy and Performance Team are currently analysing the results and they will be available publicly in December.
After the results of this consultation are collated they will feed into a draft budget for consultation in December 2016, to be implemented from April 2017.
Further information on the proposed options can be found in the documents at the foot of this page.
