Please see below for changes and updates to Council Services for Residents
Waste collections are operating as normal (Green, Blue and Brown bins) although may be slightly later than usual. Please leave your bins out until emptied. This situation may change on a daily basis. Please refer to this page for updates.
Collections will be completed by 7pm. Any missed bins should be reported with 24 hours.
We ask residents to not approach refuse crews, or if necessary to please respect social distancing and to clean handles and lids of their waste containers before and after collections to prevent the spread of Covid19.
Household Waste and Recycling Centres
All 14 household waste and recycling centres (HWRCs) run by Staffordshire County Council are now open, with temporary rules and traffic management in place, so that Staffordshire residents can visit them for essential use only.

Cannock Chase has two Household Waste Recycling Centres within its borders at Cannock and Rugeley.
Both sites are run and managed by Staffordshire County Council. Please follow this link for further information.
Nature Reserve Car Parks
All of the Council car parks are now open except for Mill Green Nature Reserve.
Play areas and Toilets
Council owned Play areas and toilet facilities are now closed to the public until further notice.
Update, 3 June 2020: Council owned playgrounds in the District will remain closed until all risk assessments have been completed and measures and signage have been put in place to re-open safely.
A full risk assessment of playgrounds and green gym equipment needs to take place to ensure that they are COVID secure and as safe as possible for families to use. New signage will be designed and installed to all of our 50 or so play areas and 3 outdoor gym sites. The safety of our residents is paramount and we will not open these outdoor facilities until it is safe to do so. For details of play areas we run please visit https://www.cannockchasedc.gov.uk/residents/parks-open-spaces
Vulnerable Council Housing Tenants Grass Cutting Scheme to resume
Grass cutting resumed for vulnerable Council house tenants from 29th June. As restrictions have eased, risk assessments have been completed which has enabled the service to resume safely. Both front and rear gardens will be cut where external access is available.
Council employees will not cut grass where the only form of access is through a tenant’s property or where gates are locked preventing access.
Unfortunately at this stage it will not be possible to predict the exact day or time when grass cutting will be undertaken in a particular area, due to the length of the grass to be cut and the increased time it is likely to take.
Schools and Childcare for Critical Workers
Has your school or childcare provider had to close due to Coronavirus? If you need emergency childcare in your local area contact email@example.com or call 01785 278201
The Council's MOT Test station is closed to the public until further notice. We apoliogise for any inconvenience.

All traders have been working with the Council to trade safely, which includes signs displaying social distancing measures. Hand sanitiser will be available and all hard surfaces will be sanitised regularly. Cannock Street Market, operated by Sketts, has opened with a new layout to allow for appropriate social distancing.

The Council's planning services staff are currently dealing with a large volume of enquiries and planning applications. As a result, timescales for responses and the investigation of potential breaches of planning regulations are likely to be extended whilst this situation persists. It should also be noted that additional meetings of the Planning Control Committee are being arranged as and when required. Such meetings are currently held remotely. Information on how public access to such meetings can be achieved will be made available when the agenda is published in advance of each meeting (see Meetings & Committees on this website).
