Corporate Plan 2021-2024
While good progress has been made in the delivery of our priorities for the current Corporate Plan (see below), the impact of the Covid-19 pandemc on the District, the local economy, our community and the Council's finances has been significant.
In light of this we have been reviewing the current Corporate Plan and will produce a new one for 2021-2024. We are proposing that our priorities are Supporting Economic Resilience, Supporting Health and Wellbeing and a Financially Resilient District.
We ran a survey and Focus Groups and asked people to share their thoughts. The engagement process has now closed and we are looking at the results. Thank you for taking part.
Cannock Chase is a place of heritage, strong local identities and vibrant communities. It is also a District that is thriving, with record investment in the local economy, businesses and facilities.
Our Corporate Plan, published in July 2018, set out our priorities and focus for the future.
To achieve this, we have two new priorities for 2018-2023 of Promoting Prosperity and Community Wellbeing. The plan follows a public survey which closed in December 2017 and consultation with partners.
The Plan is not just confined to what the Council is directly responsible for. As a democratically elected public body, our 41 Councillors have a responsibility to represent their constituents across a wide range of issues that affect the quality of life in the District. This ‘Community Leadership’ role means that the Council will get involved in, and comment upon, strategic and service issues that may not be directly within the control of the Council but are important to the District.
Looking ahead, there are opportunities to improve quality of life for people who live and work in the District. Unemployment levels have fallen, business growth in the District remains buoyant, significant investment is underway including the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet in Cannock due to open in 2020, in new and existing housing, improved leisure facilities as well as the opportunities from the region hosting the Commonwealth Games in 2022, and improvements will continue to be made to the District’s award-winning parks and open spaces.
The Council works in partnership with a wide range of public, private and voluntary organisations. The challenges facing this District are complex and no organisation acting alone will be able to address these. Making progress means being committed to collaboration within the District, across Staffordshire and the whole West Midlands region.
Our commitment to you is that we will remain focused on the issues that are important in Cannock Chase, however difficult and challenging these may be.
