Throughout the pandemic, Cannock Chase Council has been working closely with its partners including public health specialists at Staffordshire County Council and Public Health England, to monitor and respond to the coronavirus situation in our District.
As the Government restrictions are lifted, residents and businesses are reminded that the virus is still present and to follow the Government’s guidance to stay safe and to help reduce the spread in our communities.

The Council has been dealing with an understandably large number of calls and enquiries coming in online from residents and businesses since March 2020, especially those concerned about their finances. Staff - mostly working from home - are doing all they can to help with queries about benefits and Government support for businesses, and the many other enquiries being made especially concerning the most vulnerable in our community. We sincerely thank you for your patience and understanding.
We are posting news releases on this website as they are issued (Follow this link for the Latest News). You can also follow our latest news on Twitter @cannockchasedc and Facebook (Search `Cannock Chase Life`). There you will find regular updates.
Council Meetings are once again being held 'in person'. Members of the public are entitled to attend meetings as registered speakers or to view proceedings. However, owing to social distancing requirements, numbers are limited and only those who have booked in advance will be able to attend. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to do so.
With the Council having a particular responsibility to support vulnerable people, there may be a range of other requests for help around Coronavirus (not NHS related) including how to access other council services not managed by Cannock Chase Council. Staff will help to signpost to the right organisations that can offer assistance in these cases.
Key information below includes relevant links to guidance and advice about Coronavirus from the NHS and information provided by the Government:
1. About Coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms, medical help, self-isolation and other advice
The NHS has information online covering the symptoms and other advice which can be found at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/
2. Removal of COVID-19 restrictions by the Government
From 19 July England proceeds to Step 4 and the removal of COVID-19 restrictions. The changes include the removal of ‘bubbles’ and the legal requirement to wear a face covering or to socially distance and, from 16 August, if you are fully vaccinated or under 18, you will not need to self-isolate following close contact with someone who has COVID-19, although you will still need to take a PCR test and self-isolate if it is positive.
Guidance has been produced by the Government to help people manage the risks to themselves and to others, for example meeting in well ventilated areas where possible, the expectation to still wear a face covering in crowded places (especially indoors) and on public transport where requested or when busy with passengers, and to contiune to practice good hand hygiene by washing hands regularly throughout the day.
