Over the last four years, the Council has been working with Inspiring healthy lifestyles to deliver a programme of events to commemorate the centenary of World War 1.
Preparations are now underway to commemorate the end of the war in November 1918. These will include an official Beacon lighting ceremony, a theatre production called - `The Last Day` led by Cannock Chase Arts Council, an art exhibition and an educational (digital) toolkit.
These final commemorations have been funded by Cannock Chase Council, Inspiring healthy lifestyles and the Armed Forces Community Covenant Fund.
To demonstrate its commitment and obligations the Council has towards the Armed Forces Covenant, we worked with Inspiring healthy lifestyles and secured £15,000 from the Armed Forces Community Covenant Fund. This funding has supported the various creative elements which aim to integrate our local military and civilian communities. This will ensure the wider community will continue to ‘Respect, Remember, Respond’ beyond the centenary commemorations.
If you would like further information about these events please contact Kate McBey on 07971667218 or Lisa Shephard on 07812332964.
Visit our official World War 1 website to remember the sacrifices made by men and women during WW1 across the District.
