Chase Chamber of Commerce announces the headline speaker of its annual celebration lunch on Friday 8th November is Amanda Milling, MP for Cannock Chase.
Since being elected to Parliament, Amanda has served on the Business, Innovation and Skills Select Committee as well as the Education, Skills and Economy Sub-Committee and Committees for Arms Export Controls. As part of these committees Amanda has been involved in some high profile inquiries, including those looking at the quality of Higher Education, the working practices at Sports Direct and the collapse of BHS.
Amanda’s main areas of interest in Parliament have been Education and Young People (including career advice, apprenticeships and higher education), Blue Light Services (collaboration), the Armed Forces and Business & Enterprise (with a particular focus on trade & exports).
Locally, Amanda has been an active campaigner on many local issues. These include the closure of the Rugeley B Power Station and its redevelopment, maintenance of the local road network, the delivery of the Chase Line electrification project and tackling overcrowding on the line, illegal waste site fires and supporting young people into work.
McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Cannock: Get the latest update on the new Designer Outlet in Cannock due to be completed by 2020.
In summer 2018, McArthurGlen, Europe’s leading owner, developer and manager of designer outlets, started construction of the new £160 million designer outlet in Cannock, spanning 285,000 sq ft of retail space across two phases. The development will become the Group’s 26th centre, and their seventh in the UK. This investment will create a landmark retail destination and community hub in the West Midlands, generating 1,000 jobs for the local area, supporting around £20 million of employment income for the local economy every year. The centre is set to attract more visitors to the area, growing local tourism spend by more than £3 million annually. Due to complete in 2020, Phase I will be home to 80 sought-after premium and luxury brands offering year-round savings of up to 60%, a selection of restaurants and cafés, a children’s play area, bike parking for cyclists and 1,400 car parking spaces.
McArthurGlen will deliver an additional £1.5 million investment in various projects that will bring significant benefits to the local community, which forms part of their planning agreement with Cannock Chase District Council. This investment programme will include the enhancement and ongoing maintenance of the Mill Green Nature Park, improvements to Cannock Town Centre and the railway station, and support for developing skills and employment prospects for local people. McArthurGlen has also committed £15 million to a highway improvements programme.
The annual celebration held at The Chase Golf Club, is a must-attend event on the business networking calendar, with non-members and members very welcome. The event will be hosted by the President of Chase Chamber of Commerce Martyn Jupp, Managing Director of Veriserv.
The Annual General Meeting will start at 11.30am for Chamber members wishing to attend, followed by the business lunch commencing at 12.15.
