This year sees her Majesty The Queen become the first British Monarch to reach the milestone of a 70-year reign. The end of May bank holiday has been moved and extended and will run from Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 June 2022 to provide opportunities for communities to come together to celebrate this historic milestone.
However, celebrations do not need to be limited to the bank holiday weekend and can be held at any point from January to December 2022.
Communities across Cannock Chase District are encouraged to take part in the celebrations by hosting their own events. Activities could include street parties, festivals, the planting of trees and craft activities to make your own platinum emblem or crown.
To help you with your celebrations, we have produced a useful Event Information Pack which you can download below.
Please let us know what you’re planning in your area by emailing the Communications Team at communications@cannockchasedc.gov.uk
We will list your events in the programme below.
You can also register your event or find out more about events taking place in Staffordshire here link to https://platinumjubilee.gov.uk/events/

Event Information Pack - how this pack can help you...
This pack has been designed to help you organise your own community event or street party.
It provides you with information about how to get started, running an event and some general guidance around important issues such as health and safety. It also gives you some ideas of activities to run and useful links to other websites.
Although this pack has been designed to work on its own, you may want to research other useful toolkits which will offer similar advice.
Lastly, don’t be put off organising your own event if you were not planning on doing everything within this pack. Some sections are more relevant if you are organising a large-scale event. However, the basic principles should be applied to smaller street party type events especially if a road or cul-de-sac is required to be closed. REMEMBER – it’s your event!
Good luck in planning your community event!

Lighting up the District
More than 1,500 beacons will be lit throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories, and one in each of the capital cities of Commonwealth countries in recognition of The Queen’s long and selfless service. The beacons will enable local communities, individuals and organisations to pay tribute to her as part of the official Platinum Jubilee Weekend of celebrations from 2nd to 5th June 2022.
The Council is working with local Town and Parish Council ‘s to provide beacons which have been designed and manufactured by a local company to mark this momentous occasion. These will be lit at local events as outlined above.
The photos below show the Beacons being manufactured.
People are also being encouraged to light up their homes too with fairy lights or candles.
