Hednesford will be celebrating this Summer with a festival for the whole community.

Hednesford Festival is taking place on Saturday 13 August between 12 noon and 4pm in Hednesford Park and Town Centre.

There will be lots of fun activities and displays in the park throughout the day including:

  • A World War 1 experience

Come along and commemorate World War 1 with the Royal Norfolk Regiment Living History Group – meet the Recruiting Sgt, see an operational territorial field kitchen and speak to experts about military kit and equipment.

  • Maypole workshops
  • Fun fair rides
  • Arts and crafts
  • Various market stalls
  • Military displays and activities by Help for Heroes, Staffordshire Regimental Association, Hednesford Army Cadets, Girls Air Venture Corps and many more.
  • Old fashioned team games

The games will be hosted by the Friends of Hednesford Park with the support of the Hednesford Army Cadets. Games will include tug of war, various races and an assault course. Games will be suitable for individuals or teams, so if you think you’re up for a challenge, why not come along and take part! You can sign up on the day.

The town centre will also be in for a surprise as pop up entertainment will be taking place throughout the day. Live performances will include choirs, poets, singers, guitarists and theatre performers and more!

As part of this event, there will also be a number of walks including a World War 1 self-led walk, a Brindley Bear mining adventure and a military march. The military march will start from Hednesford Park and visit the site of Brindley Heath Hospital. It will start at 9am and finish back at the park at 1pm. The other walks will be self-led and will take place in and around the park throughout the day.

Councillor Christine Mitchell, Leader of Culture and Sport said “Hednesford Festival is going to be a fantastic day of celebration, full of activities for people of all ages to enjoy.  It is a free community event so everyone is invited to attend.  There is going to be lots going on both in the park and the town centre - so come along and join in the fun this Summer.”

The event is supported by Cannock Chase Council, Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles, Friends of Hednesford Park, Hednesford in Partnership and Hednesford Town Council.
