Jobseekers across the district will have the opportunity to speak directly to local employers at two jobs fairs planned for October.

The jobs fairs will take place in the Ballroom at the Civic Centre in Cannock on Beecroft Road on Thursday 12 October from 10am to 1pm and Rugeley Community Centre on Burnthill Lane on Thursday 26 October from 10am to 1pm. Local employers with vacancies will be available to talk to on the day.

This follows two very successful jobs fairs, which took place earlier this year, where dozens of employers gathered to speak to potential employees to see what opportunities were available.

Councillor Josh Newbury, Portfolio Leader for High Streets and Regeneration at Cannock Chase Council said: “The partnership between the Council, Jobs22 and the Department of Work and Pensions has proved to be invaluable.

“Figures from August this year show that the Universal Credit claimant count in Cannock Chase is far lower than the average for England (3.8%) and the West Midlands region (4.9%). However, at 3.4% we do have the highest rate in Staffordshire. These jobs fairs are a great opportunity for people across Cannock Chase looking for work to speak to employers face-to-face.”
