It's time to change the way we think and act about mental health...
Time to Change is a social movement to change the way people think and act about mental health problems. Still, too many people are made to feel ashamed or isolated because they have a mental health problem.
A number of initiatives are being delivered in communities, workplaces and schools to help people open up to mental health. Get involved by visiting the Time to Change website.
The Council continues to support this initiative and other national campaigns to help its employees and local community improve and maintain their mental health and wellbeing.
Time to Change Employer Pledge
In 2017, the Council signed the Time to Change Employer Pledge as a commitment to change the way its staff think and act about mental health in the workplace.
This commitment was supported by a 12 month action plan to embed best practice interventions to help staff work in ways that promote a positive mental wellbeing.
As a result of this a successful recruitment drive of Mental Health Champions was undertaken who are now fully established and delivering proactive support work across the organisation.
Time to Change Hub - Cannock Chase
Both funded and organic Time to Change hubs combine the insights from the national campaign with local knowledge to support communities, workplaces and schools to help end the negative attitudes and behaviours towards people experiencing mental health problems where they live.
Time to Change Hubs are local partnerships which demonstrate their commitment to:
- Putting people with personal experience of mental health problems (Champions) at the heart of their work
- Embedding anti-stigma and discrimination work locally, whether that be local schools, workplaces or other community settings
- Proactively campaigning to improve people’s attitudes and behaviours towards mental health.
If you have experience of living with poor mental health and would like to be involved as a Champion, please contact Lynn Evans on 07855 099353.
