Cannock Chase Local Plan 2018 to 2040

The Cannock Chase District Local Plan is designed to guide and manage the development of the District and is intended to replace the existing Cannock Chase Local Plan (Part 1) 2014 upon adoption by the Council.  Further detail about the adopted and new Local Plan can be found on the Local Plan webpage. 

The Local Plan was submitted to the Planning Inspectorate (PINS) for Examination in Autumn 2024 (29th November) in line with the LDS (Local Development Scheme) schedule and approved Cabinet Report.

Planning Inspector Mr A McCormack BSc (Hons) MRTPI has been appointed to hold an independent examination of the Cannock Chase Local Plan Review.

Hearings for the Local Plan Examination took place during May, June and July 2025 and have now concluded.  The plan is still subject to examination, further details can be found on the Examination website at https://www.localplanservices.co.uk/cclocalplanexamination.

Main Modifications to the Cannock Chase District Local Plan 2018-2040

Modifications have been recommended by the Inspector, where they are considered necessary to address a matter of soundness or legal compliance with the plan.  They are proposed without prejudice to the Inspectors' final conclusions on the Local Plan.

The consultation, which took place from 20th October to 1st December provided an opportunity for representations to be made on the proposed Main Modifications to the Local Plan.  Representations received have been submitted to the Inspector for his consideration and can be read under the Cannock Chase Local Plan 2018-2040 - Main Modifications Consultation section at the bottom of the Local Plan webpage.
