The Local Development Framework An Appropriate Assessment of the LDF Core Strategy has raised concerns with the potential adverse effects of the scale of development proposed within the sub-region on the internationally important Cannock Chase Special Area of Conservation (SAC). These concerns relate to increased recreational pressure and air pollution, particularly as a result of more traffic passing through or near the SAC and affect both Cannock Chase District and a number of neighbouring local planning authorities. Additional studies have been undertaken to ensure these potentially adverse effects can be dealt with via appropriate mitigation measures linked to development. The results are currently being analysed. The Council carried out additional consultation on Pre Publication drafts for the Core Strategy and Rugeley Town Centre Area Action Plan in 2010. The responses have been considered and planning officers will provide responses at the next stage of consultation. |
Planning Policy determines the future development of Cannock Chase District. Reflecting national and regional policies, it aims to facilitate the development of different land uses and improve the social, economic and environmental structure of the District. It provides a clear framework for local decision making on all planning related issues.
Consultations
When creating or revising planning documents the Council consults with a wide range of stakeholders. Information is provided on both open consultations and updates to closed consultations.
Building Conservation
The Council has a wide range of Conservation Area Appraisals and Management Plans. The Council can also provide advice on Listed Buildings and Scheduled Ancient Mouments.
Current Development Plan
The adopted Development Plan for the District is the 1997 Local Plan which forms the principle basis for which development is promoted and controlled within the area.
Local Development FrameworkCannock Chase Council is producing a replacement Development Plan known as the Local Development Framework (LDF) which will replace the 1997 Local Plan.
Development Plan Documents (DPDs) set out the core policies for the District and include the Core Strategy, Site Allocations and Rugeley AAP.
The DPDs are supported by Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) which expand on policies outlined in the DPDs and the Evidence Base supports planning document policies.
The online Proposals Map shows the spatial distribution of policies in the 1997 Local Plan. It also shows emerging policies in the draft Development Plan Documents.
The Local Development Scheme (LDS) is the project plan that outlines which Local Development Documents will be produced and when.
The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) shows how and when Cannock Chase Council will consult the community.
Sustainability Appraisals (SA) and Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA) predict the likely impact of plans and policies on social, economic and environmental issues within the District.
Monitoring is carried out to assess the effectiveness of adopted plans and to provide an evidence base for making decisions on new policies.
