Local Plan Consultations

We are starting work on a new Local Plan for Cannock Chase. The Local Plan will help shape the future of the area by setting out a vision for growth and development. It will identify how and where development should take place, while addressing key economic, social and environmental challenges and opportunities facing the District. 

SCOPING CONSULTATION OF THE CANNOCK CHASE LOCAL PLAN 2026 – 2046 DEVELOPMENT PLAN DOCUMENT 

In accordance with Regulation 20 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2026 the Council is consulting on the first stage of the Local Plan for the District under the Government’s new plan-making system. The Local Plan will set out the strategy, policies and land allocations necessary to guide sustainable development across the District of Cannock Chase. 

The Scoping consultation provides the opportunity for stakeholders to help shape the emerging vision and strategic options for the district. Cannock Chase Council is inviting comments on the:

The consultation period commences on 3rd August 2026 and closes at 5pm on Monday 14th September 2026.  Please use the response form above or the Council's online survey to provide feedback on the consultation.

The information will also be available at Cannock Chase Council Civic Centre reception in Cannock and at local libraries across the District.

Throughout 2026 and 2027 work will continue developing the emerging spatial vision, strategy options and evidence base, with the intention of preparing a draft Local Plan for further public consultation later in 2027. A Local Plan Timetable has been published on the Council website setting out the next stages in more detail.
