Just a couple of months after Cannock Chase Council announced its intention to create a new urban woodland at Bradbury Lane in Hednesford, over 3,000 native trees and shrubs have been planted to date.
This significant achievement, with the help of the Forest of Mercia CIC, has come about thanks to the combined efforts of over 15 local volunteer groups and residents living nearby who have all been busy planting trees and shrubs in the past few weeks.

Temporary emergency accommodation for asylum seekers in Cannock
This week a hotel in Cannock has started receiving a group of asylum seekers at the request of the Home Office. The asylum seekers are being cared for by Serco as part of an arrangement with the Home Office.

At Council last night four former councillors of Cannock Chase Council were presented with certificates to mark their appointment as Aldermen and Alderwomen of the District, in recognition of their service to the Council and the wider community. They received their certificates from the Chairman of the Council, Councillor Doug Smith.
Those newly appointed to this honour are Gordon Alcott (shown top left), Zaphne Stretton MBE (top right), Diane Todd (bottom left) and Patricia Ansell (bottom right). Their names will now be inscribed on an Honours Board in the Civic Suite.
