Cannock Chase Council Chairman sends condolences to family of Newcastle Mayor

The Chairman of Cannock Chase District Council has passed on his condolences to the family of Newcastle-under-Lyme Mayor, Councillor Barry Panter, following the news of his sudden death.

Councillor Steve Thornley, said: “It is with great sadness that we heard the terrible news of Barry’s death. All our thoughts are with his wife, Beatrice, his family and loved ones at this very difficult time.”

“I met Barry on several occasions and he was always so enthusiastic about Newcastle and his role as Mayor.” 

Council acquires properties as part of the town centre redevelopment

Cannock Chase Council have purchased several properties in Cannock Town Centre, as part of the £20 million Government funding received to transform Cannock Town Centre.

The properties purchased, which will form part of phase two of the town centre redevelopment include the Forum Shopping Centre, retail properties along Market Hall Street and Church Street, including the former Barclays Bank and Boots.

Life-saving bleed kits installed across the district

Lifesaving bleed kits have been installed in six locations across the district thanks to funding from the Staffordshire Commissioner for Police, Fire & Rescue and Crime.

The new cabinets, which are stocked with essential bleed control equipment, can now be found at Cannock, Pye Green, Hednesford and Norton Canes, and supplement existing bleed control provision across the district.

This half term, Elmore Park has unveiled its newly improved Tree Trail, offering a unique and engaging outdoor experience for all ages. The trail features 21 QR codes placed along the route, providing fascinating information about 20 different species of trees found in the park.

Not only can visitors learn about the importance of trees for our environment and wellbeing, but there’s also an exciting reward! Those who scan all 21 QR codes can claim a FREE colouring book, perfect for children and families.

New measures in force to reduce anti-social behaviour in Cannock Chase

A new Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) has come into effect across Cannock Chase district in a bid to reduce anti-social behaviour. 

The new order prohibits street drinking, anti-social use of motorised vehicles, riding an E-scooter, unauthorised incursions onto rooftops, public urination/defecation and unsafe disposal of drug paraphernalia, people abandoning possessions which block doorways and fire escapes and loitering, where it is causing anti-social behaviour.
