Ravenhill Park

Ravenhill Park is very popular with the local community.  It includes a tennis court, play area including paddling pool, outdoor gym station, football pitch, large open grass areas and woodland areas.

The earliest record of Ravenhill Park is in 1937 when Rugeley Urban District Council purchased Ravenhill House, it was on the site of where the play area is now. The house was offered by Lady Zouche as a military hospital during WW1 1914-1918 and then for training soldiers during 
WW2 1939-1945.  

*1953 Ravenhill Park was opened

*1962 The paddling pool and toilets were opened

*1966 Brereton Town Football Club were given permission to build a club house and changing rooms

*1977-1986 Brereton Carnival was hosted at the park.
*1993 Ravenhill house was demolished.

*2000 The pavilion was built through funds by the Coalfields Regeneration Trust and Staffordshire   Environmental Fund. It is run by Brereton and Ravenhill Parish Council.

*June 2021 the last 4 of the cooling towers were demolished, the last visual evidence of the coal          industry which has dominated the development of Queens Platinum Jubilee Celebrations 2022 the local area and community.

*Brereton Million paid for the new play area and outside gym and Co-ordinate weekly litter picks, 
events, activities, walks and paint the furniture.They were the first group ever to be awarded the Compassionate Communities Charter Status due to the work carried out during the Covid Pandemic.

*Brereton Can (“Brereton Can” is a health and well-being brand, funded by Brereton Million,    
centered around lifestyle changes and weight loss).

*BRACE (Brereton and Ravenhill Association for Community Events ) have delivered the popular 
Brereton Carnival in Ravenhill Park since 2012.

 

Please note: The Paddling Pool will be out of use after 3rd September 2023 until June 2024.
