Construction has completed on a 33-bedroom care home in Cannock which will provide nursing care for adults living with complex needs.

Coronation Court is a nursing home for adults living with complex needs arising from brain injuries, dementia, mental health conditions, neuro-disabilities and physical disabilities.

Residents are now moving into the home, which is owned and operated by leading national healthcare provider Exemplar Health Care, after work was completed by Midlands-based Deeley Group.

A warning to check for hedgehogs has been added to grass cutting equipment by Cannock Chase Council. 

The local authority has teamed up with a hedgehog charity to reduce the chance of the prickly animals being injured or killed.

Stickers have been placed on strimmers used by the council as a reminder to check for the mammals before workers start cutting back grass and undergrowth. 

The sun is shining on Rugeley and Chase Leisure Centre as work to make the centres more energy efficient is completed.

At Chase Leisure Centre the 370, 94 kilo-watt per hour panels, will save money and the environment. Carbon Dioxide emissions will reduce annually by 24 tonnes and - at the end of the 25 year life span - the panels will have prevented 600 tonnes of CO2 reaching the atmosphere.

That’s the equivalent of planting 1,305 trees per year. They will also save £900,000 over the course of their lifespan in energy costs.

The demolition of Cannock’s outdated multi-storey car park (MSCP) is officially underway, marking a major step forward in the town centre’s regeneration. 

The car park which closed in 2019 is now being carefully dismantled following months of intensive preparatory work. Visible progress is now being made on site, as heavy machinery begins to bring down the decades-old structure level by level.
Whilst much of the progress isn’t visible from ground level, all three towers have now been removed, including the safe removal of asbestos located above the lift shaft. 

A new Innovation and Skills Hub has opened at South Staffordshire College’s Cannock Campus, made possible through a £250,000 investment from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF). 

The primary goal of the UKSPF is to build pride in place and increase life chances. The fund aims to improve the place people live in, and support individuals and business. 

The leader of Cannock Chase Council has been holding talks with major developers around plans for the centre of the town.

Work is well underway to demolish the eyesore multi storey car park - following the demolition of three former retail units in Cannock Shopping Centre. The subway from the town’s Beecroft Road car park is being filled in to be replaced with a new pedestrian crossing as part of the Northern Gateway improvements to the town centre which also include a new two storey café building.

Heath Hayes Park is looking greener and more vibrant thanks to a fantastic tree planting day held last month.

Residents, the Friends of Heath Hayes Park, Friends of Hednesford Park, and a group from AXIS Birmingham all got stuck in, planting a variety of trees across the park as part of a fun and meaningful volunteering effort.

Cannock Park has a new leafy resident – and it needs a name!

A stunning topiary dinosaur has taken root in Cannock Park, bringing a touch of prehistoric fun to the popular green space. Planted with support from the Trees for Climate programme, this unique feature is already turning heads and is set to become a local landmark.

Now, Cannock Chase Council is calling on local children and families to help officially name the dinosaur by entering the ‘Name the Dinosaur’ competition.

Cannock Chase Council is celebrating the early completion of its first four-year parks improvement programme, which has been delivered a year ahead of schedule.

In just three years, the Council has invested over £1.54 million to improve and enhance seven local parks and play areas, significantly boosting recreational opportunities for children, young people, and families across the district.
