Cannock Chase Council is inviting children, young people, and families to get creative and enjoy a range of fun, free activities taking place in Cannock Park over the February half term.
Following the success of last year’s vibrant spray painted artwork on the Pavilion, the professional spray artist involved in that project will be returning to Cannock. Over the next few weeks, they will be working to enhance the external walls of Chase Leisure Centre with new designs.
To celebrate this ongoing project, two free spray art workshops will be held for children and young people:
• Monday 16 February, 12pm – 2pm
• Tuesday 17 February, 12pm – 2pm
These hands on sessions will give young people the chance to try spray art for themselves and contribute ideas and elements that may be incorporated into the final artwork. All materials will be provided, and no prior experience is needed.
As part of the half-term programme, families are also invited to a free Family Fun Day in Cannock Park on Wednesday 18 February, 10am – 2pm. The Council’s Countryside Service Team will be on site offering a range of nature themed activities.
Families will have the opportunity to:
• Meet the team and learn about the work they do across Cannock Chase
• Get up close to some of the grazing cows
• Find out about volunteering and work experience opportunities
• Chat to staff about local wildlife
• Pick up tips on how to make gardens and outdoor spaces more wildlife friendly
Councillor Garry Samuels, Deputy Leader of the Council and Portfolio Leader for Parks, Culture and Heritage, said: “We’re delighted to be bringing such a creative and family friendly programme to Cannock Park this half term. These free events are a great opportunity for children, young people, and families to enjoy the outdoors, learn new skills, and connect with nature and the community. We hope to see lots of residents joining us over the week.”
In addition to activities in Cannock Park, a variety of events will also be taking place in other local parks across the district. Residents are encouraged to check park noticeboards for details of what’s happening in their area.
