Cannock Chase Council’s Cabinet have approved, the revised leisure concessions for specific residents in the District.

This year residents that receive any of the following benefits and care leavers between 18-25, will qualify for a concessionary membership.

Cannock Chase Council in partnership with Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles, the Community Lottery funded, Chase Up team, and The Friends of Cannock Stadium have planted seasonal bedding plants at the Stadium Site on Pye Green Road.

The planting project was approved in March 2020, when Cannock Chase Council’s Cabinet approved to spend £25,000, to improve the site through the planting of flower beds, landscape improvement works and the inclusion of an eco-trail. The money has been allocated from Section 106 funds, collected from housing developments in the Pye Green area.

Police, Fire & Crime Commissioner visits Cannock Chase Council

Staffordshire’s Police, Fire & Crime Commissioner, Ben Adams, has made his first visit to a Community Safety Hub meeting in the county.

Accompanied by his deputy, Helen Fisher, he was invited to the Civic Centre at Cannock Chase Council to take part in the weekly meeting of the Chase Community Partnership Community Safety Hub. This brings together partner organisations to discuss ongoing community safety issues in the District.

A new campaign addressing women’s safety has launched across the District as part of Cannock Chase Council’s ongoing safeguarding work.

The new campaign named ’Get Home Safe’ aims to prompt women and girls to think about how they will get themselves home on a night out.

The Council’s Policy and Communications and Community Safety and Partnerships teams have been working together to develop a new campaign called ‘Get Home Safe’ which provides useful tools for women and young girls to get home safe after a night out.

Annual Council Meeting sees new appointments made for the next 12 months

Members of Cannock Chase Council have made appointments to key roles at their Annual Council Meeting held on 25 May at the Civic Centre in Cannock. They follow the recent District Council Elections held on 5 May. 

Entering her second year as Leader of the Council is Councillor Olivia Lyons. She was both re-elected as a councillor for Western Springs Ward in Rugeley and as Leader of the Conservative Group. The Group managed to increase its majority on the Council from eight seats to nine seats.
