Last chance to comment on Cannock Chase District Local Plan

Residents and businesses have one last chance to comment on the Cannock Chase Local Plan 2018 - 2040 before it is submitted to the Government’s Planning Inspectorate for independent examination.

The Local Plan looks at future development and addresses the needs of the District, such as housing and employment land. It also identifies where development should take place and where is should be restricted.

Funding received to improve construction skills across the district

Over £73k of funding has been received from the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership’s (GBSLEP) Future Impact Fund, to fund a skills project which will be delivered by South Staffordshire College.

The funding will be used for the construction of a dedicated outdoor concrete pad and cover facility at the Cannock College campus, which will enable students to experience working outside as they would in the workplace.

Cannock based cab company, Corky’s Cars, have licensed two brand new Tesla electric vehicles with Cannock Chase Council, for use across the District.

They are the first private hire company to license a fully electric vehicle with the Council.

To celebrate these eco-friendly vehicles, they will be offering free journeys to random customers who book with them during February, customers however cannot request the Tesla for a free ride.


`It’s anyone for tennis` as Council invests in courts and online booking system

Cannock Chase Council has announced the reopening of its tennis courts following refurbishment.

A total of 13 courts across Cannock Park, Hednesford Park, Ravenhill Park and Heath Hayes Park have undergone various improvements to ensure tennis courts are of a high quality for local players. The introduction of an electric gate access system means that players can now find and book a court with assurance it will be available when they arrive to play.

Work is underway in Cannock to create a new £6 million nursing home for adults living with complex needs. 

The home will create around 100 new healthcare jobs and will be owned and operated by leading national health care provider Exemplar Health Care.

The first residents are expected to move into the new nursing home in early 2025.

Midlands-based Deeley Construction has been appointed to complete the development and work has now started on site.
