As the programme draws to a close, Cannock Chase Council is highlighting the significant impact of UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) investment, which has helped more than 350 residents access the benefits and financial support they are entitled to.

Cannock Chase Council is celebrating the success of the Cannock Chase Discovery Programme, delivered by AKG and funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).

The programme has focused on supporting residents who are unemployed or in low paid work, particularly those facing additional barriers such as poor health, low confidence, limited qualifications, or digital exclusion. Through personalised employment, skills, and wellbeing support, the programme has helped people of all ages build confidence, gain new skills, and move closer to sustainable work.

Families are being encouraged to step into the magical world of the Chase Creatures this Easter half term, with a special trail event taking place on Thursday 9 April, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm at Marquis Drive Visitor Centre.

Local authority leaders across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent have taken the first step towards unlocking more powers and funding for the area as part of the government’s devolution plans.

All ten councils, which includes Cannock Chase Council, have submitted an expression of interest to government for a Foundation Strategic Authority (FSA), agreeing that Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent is the right geography for local devolution and that they are ready to move forward at pace, urging the government to implement the changes at the earliest possible opportunity.

Cannock Chase Council, in partnership with members of the Heritage Trail Steering Group, is set to begin improvement works later this month to enhance a link to the Chase Heritage Trail on the playing fields in Rugeley.

Residents are being reminded of some key deadlines ahead of the local elections on Thursday 7 May.

Only people who are registered will be able to vote on 7 May, if you have moved you will need to register to vote again.  Registering is easy and you can apply online at https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote in just a few minutes. All you will need is your date of birth and national insurance number.  The deadline to register to vote is Monday 20 April.

Cannock Chase Council has reached a major milestone as Cabinet approves the Cannock Chase Local Plan 2018–2040 and recommend its adoption to Full Council.

This marks the culmination of seven years of detailed preparation, extensive consultation and rigorous independent examination.
