Cema park improvements

Views from residents living in Norton Canes have been sought as part of a recent consultation to improve the play area and open space at The Cema – Chapel Street Park in Norton Canes.

The 6-week consultation was launched in November 2020 and closed on 11 January 2021. 137 responses were received in total with 122 surveys being completed online and 15 on paper.

The results show that the park and play area appear to be well used with two thirds of respondents visiting at least once a week.



Extremism education programme is rolled out virtually to college students

A programme addressing extremism and radicalisation is being delivered to students attending South Staffordshire College this month as part of Cannock Chase Council’s safeguarding work around the Prevent agenda.

In 2020, the Council’s Community Safety Team commissioned Loudmouth Education & Training to create and deliver a brand new theatre in education programme on extremism to local primary and secondary schools.

Council Leader signs pledge to support local voluntary organisation following a grant approved by Council’s Cabinet.

Cannock Chase Council Leader Councillor George Adamson and Garry Jones the Chief Executive at Support Staffordshire have signed the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Sector Pledge for Local Authorities.

In November 2020, the Council’s Cabinet approved to give Support Staffordshire a grant for £8,350 for a 12 month period to deliver an additional 5 hours per week to support the voluntary sector within the District.

Campaign focusing on criminal exploitation launches virtually in local schools

A new campaign addressing county lines and wider criminal exploitation is launching virtually in schools across the District this month as part of Cannock Chase Council’s safeguarding work.

The Council’s Community Safety Team has commissioned Loudmouth Education & Training to deliver a virtual lesson to schools on county lines, knife crime and criminal exploitation.


Cabinet recommends budget for next three years

Cannock Chase Council’s Cabinet has today (28 January) put forward its recommendations for the Council’s general fund budget covering the next three financial years to 2023-24.

In today’s Cabinet report the focus was on the impact of the pandemic on the Council and its residents and the need to maintain services for residents.

The impact of Covid-19 on the Council during the next financial year, for 2021-22, is estimated to be £1.4million.
