Flooding grants

If your home or business has been flooded as a result of Storm Henk during 2-12 January 2024, you may be eligible for support from Government payments for communites affected by flooding (gov.uk).

You must apply before 5pm Thursday 4 April 2024.

The following financial support schemes may be available to affected residents and businesses if the Council verifies that the relevant criteria in the flood recovery fund are met:

Residential Properties:

  • Community Recovery Grant
  • Council Tax discounts

Commercial Properties:

  • Business rates relief
  • Business recovery grant

To report flood damage to your home or business and apply for the financial support schemes as indicated above please complete either the Residential application or Business application before 5pm Thursday 4 April 2024.

Funding

Community Recovery Grant - £500 grant per eligible household. Funded by the Government via the Flood Recovery Framework (gov.uk) delivered by Cannock Chase District Council.

Primary residences that were internally flooded as result of Storm Henk where:

  • Flood water entered into the habitable areas of the residence; or
  • Flood water did not enter into habitable areas, but the local authority regards that the residence was otherwise considered unliveable for a period of time
  • Second homes and empty homes will not be eligible.

Council Tax Discount - if you had to move out of your primary residence and it is unliveable as a result of flooding during Storm Henk you could be eligible for 100% discount on Council tax for at least three months.

Business Rates Relief Scheme - If your business premises were flooded during Storm Henk you could be eligible for 100% rate relief for a minimum of three months.

Business Recovery - £2,500 grant funding for SME's to support businesses impacted by severe flooding. Funded by DLUHC via the Flood Recovery Framework.

Property Flood Resilience (PFR) Repair Grant Funding - Staffordshire County Council are the authority that administer this grant. Details of how to apply for this will be uploaded to the link below in due course. Storm Henk Flood Support and Flood Investigations - Staffordshire County Council.
